Sarah Wairimu to remain in custody till next week Friday pending bail ruling:


The prosecution on the ongoing Sarah Wairimu’s case is opposing the application to be released on bail. They argued that Wairimu has made several attempts to interfere with the prosecution witnesses adding that if released on bail she will abscond court and even threaten witnesses lined up to testify against her.

“The accused person has admitted of not having fixed aboard and releasing her on bail will jeopardy the case, “argued state counsel Wangoi Gichuhi.


The prosecution has argued that the investigations are still on going and there are other suspects at large adding that it is working with international partners and local in the ongoing investigations so as to bring the culprits to book. The prosecution will make an application to the court so as to visit the scene of crime.

The family which is also opposing the bail application have asked the court to deny her bail saying that she has no fixed aboard. Through lawyer Cliff Ombeta, Cohen’s siblings –Gabrielle and Bernard Cohen claim that their sister in -law is better of in Langata Women’s Prisons.

She is better of where she is now, she has no home …Keep her in custody, submitted Ombeta.

Ombeta while insisting that Wairimu should be denied bail argues that the accused person is not a good person and therefore she should be held until when all witnesses have testified in the case.


If the body was found at their home, then she is a dangerous persons, “court was told.


However Sarah Wairimu through lawyer Phillip Murgor dismissed the claims and accused the Director of Criminal Investigations for colluding with the ODPP so as to take her matrimonial property.

You have taken her home of 30 days and now you say that Langata Prisons should be her home? Langata is not a good place to be, Murgor said. It’s an attempt to defraud her of her matrimonial property, “insisted Murgor


He further submitted that if granted bail, Cohen’s wife will put up at Mama Lucy Mwangi in Kileleshwa and Betty Wamaitha who lives at State House road.


Sarah in addition to being a wife, mother and a widow she is a businesswoman and with every passing day that business is dying, she has no other income,” court was told.

In a report signed by Government pathologist Dr. Oduor Johansen, the deceased cause of death was Multiple injuries due to blunt trauma.
High court justice Stella Mutuku after hearing the parties said she will deliver her ruling next Friday.
In the case, Wairimu is facing one count of killing her estranged husband Tob Cohen . She has been in the custody for 38 days as of today.
